KTM continued its busy week at the EICMA show in Milan by unveiling the KTM 125 Project.
The Austrian manufacturer has been supplying 125cc bikes for young Moto GP racers and the KTM 125 Project appears to be a stripped down naked version of that bike. KTM has been trying to grab a bigger portion of the market in North America, so don’t be surprised to see this bike make its way to U.S. shores.
Built in KTM’s Mattighofen, Austria facility, the KTM 125 Project has been put together by the same team that built the 690 Duke. The 125cc engine features a four valve cylinder head, two overhead camshafts, water cooling and fuel injection and produces a claimed 15 hp. According to KTM’s press material, the engine not only promises typical KTM performance, but also “guarantees highly modern levels of fuel consumption and emission characteristics.”
The motor is housed in a light, latticed tubular steel frame, which KTM says combines low weight and exemplary stability. Clearly KTM didn’t skimp as both WP Suspension and Brembo brakes are fetured on the bike.
